Computational imaging and microscopy

BIDS Faculty Affiliate Laura Waller offers this project through UC Berkeley's Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP). Waller's Computational Imaging Lab at UC Berkeley is building new microscopes that use computation to do things that microscopes normally can't, like 3D imaging, gigapixel imaging or phase imaging. As part of regular lab work, students get hands-on experience with optics and electronics, working closely with biologists, optics researchers and collaborators who build microscopes. If you are interested in gaining experience in writing code and/or signal processing (EE120) or programming our image processing algorithms in Matlab or C or Python, please contact the Computational Imaging Lab at UC Berkeley.
