BIDS is hiring: Assistant Research Engineer

The Berkeley Institute of Data Science (BIDS) is seeking an Assistant Research Engineer to lead significant biological and environmental science research and training programs at BIDS.

This position will work directly with faculty, technical leaders at partner organizations, students, and researchers to lead significant biological and environmental science research and publications, community development, and training programs at BIDS. In addition, they will publish and perform research on data science as a practice, including management of computational research infrastructure such as data management, open science community building, and software development. The candidate will be expected to have demonstrated clear research leadership in their field with a track record of performing data intensive research, leading publications, and presenting talks at international conferences, as well as mentoring graduate student researchers, postdoctoral researchers and technical staff. In addition, this person will be responsible for securing grant funding and major gifts to help support their research, and for representing the research program and BIDS in external venues.
