Citlali is a PhD student in Demography at UC Berkeley interested in how families form under pressure, what holds them together, and what gets carried forward to the next generation. With CSSTP, she hopes to bring a broader, more interdisciplinary set of computational and quantitative methods to her research. Prior to population research, she worked as a software engineer and data scientist in San Francisco, NYC, and Sierra Leone, and taught math and programming in various settings globally. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics with Computer Science from MIT, an M.S. in Data Science from the University of Helsinki, an M.A. in Demography from UC Berkeley, and also completed the European Doctoral School of Demography, co-hosted between the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Germany and INED in France.
