AI innovations revealed through interdisciplinary contributions
BIDS AIxD – Artificial Intelligence Across Domains – is a new workshop series beginning Fall 2026. By convening experts from across domains to discuss the cutting-edge research developments that are driving innovation in AI, they will identify common principles, algorithms, and tools across disciplinary boundaries. The series builds on the legacy of the Cross Domain Initiatives TextXD, ImageXD, and GraphXD, co-founded by BIDS, University of Washington's eScience Institute, and the Alliance for Data Science and AI (ADSA).

The events will be held at AI Futures Lab, a collaboration between the Berkeley Institute for Data Science and UC Investments and conveniently located in downtown Berkeley at 2120 University Avenue. Faculty member host departments are encouraged to support the event through promotion and reporting.

Apply to be a host and event organizer!
UC Faculty are invited to apply to host a two-day workshop, with support from 2-4 co-organizers who are working across disciplines and advancing AI. Applications and fields include, but are not limited to, biology, transportation, real estate, computer science, and policy.
Each workshop will receive up to $12,000 for food, travel, hotels, and other event expenses. We anticipate that each event will welcome up to 30 participants, invited either directly by the organizers or through an open call for applications. We hope all events will have significant time for discussion and small group co-working, rather than a series of individual presentations, but the final agenda will be set by the faculty host and co-organizer team.
