Ashish Sahni was the Executive Director of the Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS) at UC Berkeley from 2021 to 2023. Mr. Sahni has 25 years of senior management and leadership experience in higher education and has worked at three UC campuses. Mr. Sahni’s work experience includes working as the Associate Chancellor at UC Santa Cruz and as the Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at UC San Francisco. Before starting his career in UC, Mr. Sahni worked as an Analyst at the White House budget office under the Clinton Administration. Mr. Sahni has an undergraduate degree in economics from UC Berkeley, a Master's degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University, and a certificate from the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University. In addition to his work at UC, Mr. Sahni teaches Economics at UC Berkeley Extension. In 2016, Mr. Sahni was also honored by the UC Council of University of California Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) with the Administrator of the Year award.
