Ryan Giordano

Ryan is a a former BIDS Data Science Fellow and PhD student in Statistics at the University of California, Berkeley, advised by Michael Jordan and Jon McAuliffe.  His interests include variational methods, robustness, scalable statistical inference, and the philosophy of science.  Ryan studied mathematics and engineering mechanics at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and econometrics at the London School of Economics, and has worked both as an engineer at Google and a Peace Corps volunteer in Kazakhstan.
