Dan Hammer

Dan Hammer is a PhD student in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at UC Berkeley. He was a 2014 Presidential Innovation Fellow, working with the NASA CTO and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to help build api.nasa.gov, an API inventory for the agency. Previously, Dan was the chief data scientist at the World Resources Institute, where he directed the Data Lab at WRI and worked on the tech behind Global Forest Watch, which won the 2014 UN Big Data Climate Challenge.

Dan graduated from Swarthmore College with high honors in mathematics and economics. He was a Lang Scholar and a Watson Fellow. He now lives in San Francisco with his wife, a primary care physician at San Francisco General Hospital, and volunteers for the Prison University Project teaching math at San Quentin State Prison.
